After two years of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UPM chose the Wanda Metropolitano venue in Madrid to welcome the new engineering and architecture graduates. This event also included a solemn academic ceremony for the investiture of UPM doctors, the awarding of extraordinary PhD prizes, and the graduation of Physical Activity and Sports Science students and Fashion Design students. GMV was present throughout the two-day event. Ignacio Ramos, GMV’s Corporate People Strategy and Infrastructures Manager, presented prizes to the top-performing students in the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 graduating classes from the Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering (specializing in Aerospace Sciences and Technologies) and from the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, as well as to the two first-year students of the University Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering and to a second-year student of the same degree. These awards are part of the agreement between GMV and the UPM called the GMV Chair. Furthermore, with the aim of bridging the gap between academia and business, UPMday22 served as a professional employment showcase. GMV, as part of its commitment to fostering young talent, also set up a space for recent graduates to find out about GMV’s projects in their business sectors and the positions available, according to their profiles and preferences. In this space for companies, GMV gave various talks to graduates on the company’s projects in the space sector, GNSS, defense, cybersecurity for IoT, and industrial robotics. During the event, GMV also held a raffle among students who submitted their CVs through the UPM platform. The winner received a smartwatch, which they picked up at the company’s premises on 26 May. GMV’s presence in initiatives such as UPMday22 is proof of a close and prolific relationship that began with the launch of the company itself in 1984 in the UPM’s School of Aeronautical Engineering (ETSIA, now ETSIAE). Since then, there have been numerous examples of collaboration that strengthen the ties between the two organizations year after year.
