On March 12 Manchester in the UK hosted The Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Industry Showcase (RAI Industry Showcase), which aims to accelerate the adoption of robotics and artificial intelligence technologies (RAI) as a driving force behind the UK’s economic growth.

For some years now GMV has been working on the development of robotics applications that tackle not only the future needs of space exploration and exploitation but also the possible spinoffs in other fields of robotics activity on earth, such as farming, the automobile industry, mining and the nuclear and underwater industries.

GMV exhibited its space-mission robotics activities, focusing on the pioneering projects it is leading like ERGO, FACILITATORS and ESROCOS of the European Commission’s Space Robotics Strategic Research Cluster (SRC). GMV also gave some information on the WatchChainR project it is carrying out in collaboration with Archangel Imaging; the aim of the project is to automate infrastructure monitoring by means of mobile robots.

GMV’s stand aroused a lively interest, receiving visits from organizations such as the Sundance Institute, the company Opteran Technologies, Loughborough University and representatives from ESA’s Technology Transfer Programme (TTP), among others.
