GMV is Awarded Service for Spanish Cybersecurity Operations Center (CiberSOC)

GMV is providing the service for the Cybersecurity Operations Center (CiberSOC in Spanish) of the network known as Red.es. It will be doing this through the company’s GMV-CERT Center for Excellence, which is recognized as a member of the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), an organization that brings together incident response and security teams from all countries worldwide. The multinational technology firm was awarded the project, which has a budget of €1,973,850, within one of its strategic areas, Managed Security Services.

GMV is providing services that will help increase the overall level of cybersecurity and cyber resilience for the Red.es assets and business processes, in line with the Spanish government’s National Cybersecurity Plan.

In the forums where it has a presence, such as the public sector’s National Network of Cybersecurity Operations Centers and the CSIRT.es forum, GMV is sharing information related to the cyberspace infrastructure that cybercriminals have been using to carry out their unlawful activities, such as data theft, denial of service and ransomware attacks, etc. In addition, GMV is sharing information regarding some of the new forms of cybercrime it has identified, as a way to warn other centers to develop preventive alert measures, along with any other relevant information that could be useful in the area of cyberdefense.

As a specific example, the National SOC Network (Red Nacional de SOC) has been assembled as a country-level organization, with the mission of facilitating information exchanges among security and response centers providing services to Spain’s public-sector institutions. Those information exchanges are helping to improve protection for the digital public services that governmental agencies are providing to the country’s citizens. It is also possible that the CiberSOC for Red.es will be joining the network of security operations centers that the Spanish government introduced about a year ago.

GMV has been providing services for Red.es since 2013

GMV-CERT has a group of experts who are responsible for developing preventive and reactive measures, with its activities focused on implementing tools that will allow performance of rapid and accurate security investigations. With a track record of more than 25 years in the area of digital security, GMV has acquired the extensive experience and know how needed to ensure the success of the CiberSOC project for Red.es. In addition, providing security management services for Red.es on such a long-term basis has given GMV a large body of relevant knowledge regarding that network’s organization, operation, and structure.

The head of GMV-CERT, Óscar Riaño, explains why contracting SOC services is so important: “These days, in a scenario of such rapid digitalization, we have all become aware of the importance of cybersecurity during the process of implementing and offering services from cyberspace. Having SOC services available in those situations will help ensure that all of the information can be managed under adequate conditions of integrity, confidentiality, and availability. These services also demonstrate an organization’s commitment to addressing the operational aspects of cybersecurity, which must be understood as an essential and central aspect of quality and continuity for any kind of internal or external services being provided.”
