HAPS4ESA
GMV will be participating in the 3rd HAPS4ESA workshop, an event organized by the European Space Agency from 12 to 14 February in Leiden, the Netherlands.
The HAPS (High Altitude Pseudo Satellites) are unmanned platforms that operate at an altitude of approximately 20 km in the stratosphere. These platforms fly much higher than commercial planes and have the potential to linger in specific spots for prolonged periods of time, providing sustained observations from near space. This makes HAPS a new and attractive technology for filling the gap between ground and space systems. They complement and expand satellite capabilities in terms of Earth observations, telecommunications, and navigation.
The goal of the workshop is to assess the development and evolution of these platforms and consider their future prospects, with a particular focus on synergies between HAPS and Earth observation satellites, telecommunications, and navigation, as well as to seek out recommendations for future Agency programs and activities.
