Launched in October 2021, PROMENADE (ImPROved Maritime awarENess by means of AI and BD mEthods) is a project focused on collaboration and R&D, co‑funded by the European Union as part of its Horizon 2020 framework program. The project’s objective is to improve the systems used to track maritime vessels and to develop artificial intelligence tools that can automatically detect anomalous behavior. GMV’s role in the PROMENADE project involves designing the solution, managing innovation, and developing services for satellite imagery merging, exploitation, and analysis. GMV is also the technological leader for the Spanish military, and the company will be working with top officials from the country’s Customs and Borders service and Civil Guard police force, through implementation of PROMENADE services that can be displayed in Socrates. GMV is also responsible for the platform used to bring together and perform testing of the project’s assembly of software tools, which can also be used to run simulations. Attendees at the meeting were able to share their knowledge and conclusions regarding newly developed requirements for the PROMENADE system. During the meeting, GMV presented the design for various services defined for the project, such as the vessel classification service, the oill spill detection service, the behavioral analysis service, the beacon analysis service, and the satellite AIS and image comparison service. The team from GMV also gave a presentation on the status of the Overall Design, Architecture & Interoperability Framework work package. As the project participant responsible for that package, GMV is in charge of defining the high-level architecture and design for the big data and artificial intelligence services.
