Since the nineties, therefore, it has developed the lion’s share of the systems operating in the space debris office of ESA’s European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany. Since 2009 GMV has also been participating actively in the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Space Situational Awareness (SSA) program, developing Services for space surveillance and tracking systems and providing expert support in this area in ESA’s European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) in Villafranca del Castillo, Spain. Given GMV’s experience and expertise in this field, and as part of its international expansion, this service is currently being provided under a new contract with GMV’s Bucharest-based Romania subsidiary (GMV Innovating Solutions SRL). As part of this contract GMV will be responsible for supervising the definition work of ESA’s future space surveillance and tracking system, validating the new software systems developed by European stakeholders (including GMV itself) for this surveillance system and integrating them into the future data processing center of this system in ESAC, among other duties.
