Lázaro, GMV's Head of Robotics and Automation of the Industry Sector, gave a presentation at ANYbotics Industry Forum 2024 on the ASUMO project (Advanced SUbstation MOnitoring), led by Elewit and Red Eléctrica (Redeia companies), which aims to transform the management of electrical substations through artificial intelligence and robotics. This conference was hosted by ANYbotics brought together the main voices and experts of the industrial inspection ecosystem to exchange ideas, practical experiences, and strategic roadmaps for robotic inspection processes in different industries.GMV's talk highlighted the integration of the uPathWay solution in a quadruped ANYbotics robot, which has enabled the creation of an autonomous mobile robotics solution to remotely inspect critical assets in Red Eléctrica's electrical substation in Fuencarral, Madrid. Today, this system performs tasks such as reading analog gauges, thermographic reports, and oil leak detection, all optimizing the monitoring process of these vital infrastructures. One of the most innovative aspects of this success story is the implementation of the "opportunistic inspection" module, an advanced technology based on a visual AI agent, powered by computer vision language models. With this technology, the system is able to autonomously detect anomalous situations as the robot moves between different points of interest in the substation. For example, it can identify a large piece of metal falling from a transformer and a rubber mat forgotten by a worker, sending alerts and recording these incidents in real time without the need for an accurate model of the objects. The ASUMO project represents a qualitative leap in the remote management of electrical substations, ensuring not only greater operational efficiency, but also a significant improvement in the safety and control of this critical infrastructure. GMV's participation in this project, integrating uPathWay into an ANYbotics robot specifically for inspection tasks, underlines GMV's leadership in groundbreaking automation and robotics solutions for industry.
