EnMAP is supported by the Federal Ministry of Economy Affairs and Climate Action based on a decision by the German Bundestag. It was launched on the first of April at 16:24:14UTC with SpaceX´s Falcon 9 from Florida. The weather did not seem very friendly on the previous day, the launch probability dropped to 30%. Luckily, on the day of the launch, the weather improved and EnMAP could start its mission as scheduled. EnMAP mission's objectives are the measuring and modelling of Earth's ecosystem dynamic geochemical, biochemical, and biophysical processes and so allowing to evaluate the status quo and evolution of various terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
