From October 15 to 20, Madrid hosted the 17th Meeting of the International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (ICG), organized by the European Union in collaboration with the Spanish Presidency of the EU. On Wednesday October 18, as part of this annual meeting, over 100 representatives from the countries associated with this United Nations committee had the opportunity to visit GMV's offices in Tres Cantos.

This visit proved to be a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about GMV's track record and experience in the field of satellite navigation and space technology. Miguel Romay, GMV's General Manager of Satellite Navigation Systems, gave the attendees an overview introducing the company's history, growth, and expansion. He also presented GMV's navigation capabilities, products developed with inhouse technology and some of the most important projects GMV has taken part in, consolidating its position as a world-leading company.

In a second presentation, José Caro, GMV's Director of Satellite Navigation Systems and Augmentation Services, addressed the challenges associated with SBAS (Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems) and presented Lockheed Martin and GMV's joint proposal for a global SBAS service to meet these challenges. There was also discussion of the SouthPAN project, a joint initiative of the Australian and New Zealand governments to provide satellite-based navigation and precise positioning services (SBAS and PPP) throughout both countries' land and maritime areas. In this project GMV will develop the system's processing and control centers, while also supervising and guaranteeing compliance with the delivery of both services in the region.

To conclude, Irma Rodríguez, GMV's Director of Satellite Navigation Systems Products and Services, presented GMV GSharp, GMV's full and precise GNSS-based positioning solution. This GMV-developed solution provides ultra-precise and reliable calculation of user positions using advanced algorithms developed by the company, in line with rigorous security and integrity regulations and the highest quality standards for critical software development. This solution is currently used in various applications in a variety of markets, such as autonomous driving, precision agriculture, space missions, etc.

Following the presentations, attendees had the chance to witness a live demonstration of SouthPAN's performance and GMV GSharp demo platform, which is representative of the onboard solution for autonomous vehicles.
