GMV will supply a GPRS-based advanced fleet management system for the 70-vehicle public transport fleet. It will also set up an electronic ticketing system and complete Passenger Information system comprising six bus-stop panels as well as SMS and internet information. This will cut operational costs and improve control over vehicle activity. The control center will be made up by servers in high-availability configuration together with entirely GMV-developed software acting as the real core of the whole system. The advanced algorithms of this software enable bus-stop ETAs to be calculated with only tiny margins of error.GMV’s fleet management system, due to be up and running by the end of 2012, will incorporate state-of-the-art tracking technology, GIS and mobile communications to provide a complete range of service-control, -management and -regulation functions plus a passenger information service. GMV’s Nowy Sacz fleet management system includes a traffic-light priority system for public transport vehicles, also developed by GMV and taking in 14 of the city’s traffic-light-regulated crossroads. As well as these projects GMV has recently signed another fleet-management contract for Tarnow, 70 km from Nowy Sacz. GMV will set up a passenger-counting and video-surveillance system for the 30-vehicle fleet, based on GMV’s REC20 onboard unit. These new contracts make GMV an international benchmark in the transport area, coming on top of the intelligent transport systems being developed by GMV in Putrajaya (Malaysia), Ahmedabad (India) Budapest (Hungary) and those of Warsaw, Gdansk, Bydgoszcz, Czechowice-Dziedzice, Lodz and Szczecin in Poland itself.
