Home Communication News Back New search Date Min Max Aeronautics Automotive Corporate Cybersecurity Defense and Security Financial Healthcare Industry Intelligent Transportation Systems Digital Public Services Services Space Healthcare The Iberian Telemedicine and Telehealth Society hails GMV’s groundbreaking healthcare work 29/01/2018 Print Share In the framework of the 2nd Telemedicine and Telehealth Forum of the Iberian Telemedicine and Telehealth Society (Sociedad Ibérica de Telemedicina “Telesalut@”: SITT), GMV has presented use cases of its telemedicine platform antari, in fields such as telepediatrics or teleophthalmology plus its rollouts in international projects to meet the health needs of troops on missions or to diagnose the state of recent road-accident victims.Carlos Royo paper looked at the future health challenges in Ibero-America and the rest of the world, as well as the role of telemedicine in boosting health-system sustainability, universality or driving its democratization in countries with a far-flung population and their hospitals sited in the main built-up hubs, as in many countries of Ibero-America. He also referred to GMV-led healthcare Big Data projects like Harmony and others in which it is participating as a technological partner. He argued that the availability of decision-making clinical evidence represents a qualitative leap forwards in the provision of healthcare services, looking ahead to the near future when only precision medicine will be spoken of. The event brought together specialists of top prestige from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Cameroon and Brazil, among others, winding up with the handover of awards recognizing people who have made a special contribution towards “modernizing” health services in any part of the world. Our GMV colleague was appointed as Honoris Causa member by SITT’s managing board on the strength of the work he has been carrying out for some years to ensure engineers and physicians can liaise and collaborate with the same aim in mind: the health of the population. In the event, Professor Luis Gonçalves, President of the Sociedad Ibérica de Telemedicina y Telesalud, and head of Portugal’s telemedicine projects, hailed “our colleague’s ongoing eHealth and Telemedicine work, coordinating a team of passionate technicians to harness to the utmost all the advantages and benefits that ICTs can bring to healthcare”.
