GMV is going to implement a solution based on HEGEO®, an inhouse GMV development for the planning, control and analysis of emergency and security services (police forces, fire brigades, ambulances, etc) or public services (local-government towtrucks, road upkeep vehicles, solid urban waste collection vehicles, etc). Under this project 48 firefighting vehicles will be fitted with tracking, navigation and cellular technology communications equipment for receiving notifications of accidents and travelling under guidance to the accident site, communicating at all times by voice and messaging service with the emergency center. For this purpose the onboard equipment will be fitted with an advanced user interface with built-in browser allowing the driver or companion to interact rapidly with the system by means of a touchscreen. These vehicles will also be controlled from the main control center and from the five fire stations spread throughout the whole island of Tenerife. All these sites will be fitted with control posts allowing their room operators to manage their mobile resources efficiently in any emergencies that might occur, taking the right measures to cut down the action time and improve coordination of all the firefighters involved. This new system will make the emergency staff’s management tasks much easier. Not only will it optimize the firefighting service’s communications but it will also bring in far-reaching functional improvements such as real-time tracking, assisted navigation and central coordination of emergencies. The end result will be a more efficient emergency procedure and a better service for citizens. The Consortium for the Prevention and Extinguishment of Fires and Rescue Operations of the Island of Tenerife now joins the long list of GMV clients who have taken up its trustworthy HEGEO® platform for planning, controlling and analyzing their emergency and security services or public services.
