Event IEEC – Lisa Pathfinder launch
On 2 December the European Space Agency (ESA) will be launching the LISA Pathfinder mission, trialing the necessary technology for detecting low-frequency gravitational waves in space by putting two test masses in a near-perfect gravitational free-fall.
LISA Pathfinder is being driven by Spanish institutions, in particular the LISA-Gravitational Astronomy Group of the Space Science Institute, a center ran jointly by the Space Study Institute of Catalunya (Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya: IEEC) and the Higher Scientific Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas: CSIC).
GMV, playing a key part in this mission, is taking part in the event being put on by IEEC on 2 December in Barcelona, to assess the launch and organize a visit to the mission control room and laboratories.
