Resounding Success of GUC 2015, organized by GMV

GMV has recently organized the sixth GMV Users Conference on satellite control systems, GUC'2015, which was held from 18 to 20 November in Toledo (Spain). The conference was attended by nearly 40 representatives from 20 different organizations, including space agencies, satellite operators and satellite manufacturers.

During the two-day program attendees were able to choose between watching technological presentations, sharing their operational experience or participating in debates and panel discussions on the sector’s burning issues.

The conference dealt with issues of great interest to all concerned, such as automation of operations, fleet management, new technology applied to satellite and payload ground control systems, monitoring of space debris, network security and new challenges in the provision of flight dynamics solutions, especially in the use of electric propulsion.

GMV gave out information and put on demos of its current product line in this sector, including the satellite control and monitoring system hifly, the flight dynamics system focussuite, the payload management system smart, the ground-station monitoring and control tool magnet, the automation solution autofly/autofocus, the mission planning system flexplan and the complete programming and automation system flyplan, plus GMV’s network security solutions. The new functions of these products were presented followed by debate about their future developments.

At the end of the conference attendees readily expressed their enthusiasm for initiatives of this type led by GMV, as a unique opportunity not only for receiving information on technological developments and future trends but also for swapping notes and debating issues in the best possible setting with all the various stakeholders involved in the space sector. Participants also relished the chance to strike up relations and strengthen bonds between themselves and the organizations they work for.

The complete list of organizations registered for the conference included the Industrial Technology Development Center (Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial: CDTI), ESA, CNES, Eumetsat, Eutelsat, SES, Arabsat, Turksat, Hispasat, Hisdesat, Nilesat, Measat, Yahsat, Sky Perfect JSAT, Star One, Airbus, TAS, SSL, Effective Space Solutions and Iceye.
