9th Workshop on Satellites End of Life and Sustainable Technologies

GMV will be attending the 9th Satellites End of Life and Sustainable Technologies Workshop, which is taking place from January 18 20, 2023 at France’s National Space Research Center (CNES) in Paris.

The IADC guidelines, ISO 24113 standard, and various national laws recommend post-mission disposal measures once a mission has ended. This consists of disposal of the orbital stage of the spacecraft or launch vehicle in order to minimize interferences with protected regions, along with measures to reduce the risks of accidental break up, such as by removing stored energy. The aim is to ensure sustainability for space activities by reducing space environmental footprints. To comply with these requirements, space operators and manufacturers are implementing innovative technical and operational concepts.

The objectives of this workshop are to get an overview of the state of the art in those technologies and concepts, and to discuss ways of addressing current and future challenges. The previous editions of this workshop were very successful, with more than 100 participants on each occasion, representing governmental bodies, space agencies, and operators and companies from the industry.

Javier Carro, GMV’s Ground Segment Sales Manager of Space Systems EST in France, will be contributing a presentation entitled “Supporting EOL operations with complementary commercial SST data”.
