GMV Spain and GMV USA will work together for this satellite. GMV Spain is supplying Eutelsat with the whole control center software and GMV USA is supplying Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) with its database conversion tool, DB Converter, in support of the Eurobird-2A program. Eurobird-2A, also known as Es’Hail 1, is a joint venture between Eutelsat and ictQATAR (representing the State of Qatar). At the 25.5° East orbital location, the spacecraft will provide expansive coverage across the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. Eurobird-2A, based on the LS1300 Omega 3 platform, is the first spacecraft supplied by Space Systems/Loral to Eutelsat, with expected launch date in 2013. SS/L is one of the world´s largest and leading providers of geostationary commercial satellites and telecommunications spacecrafts. GMV is the supplier of the Satellite Control Center (SCC) for the entire Eutelsat fleet. The Eurobird-2A contract is the third contract between GMV and SS/L in recent years. GMV has become a trusted partner for Space Systems/Loral with multiple programs expected in the near future.
