At GMV, we are aware of the importance of promoting vocations for STEM areas at an early age. We have thus supported the team to participate in one of the competitions of the international final phase: the First Lego League Razorback Open Invitational. The First Lego League is an annual competition that welcomes hundreds of children passionate about science and technology. In addition to measuring their abilities to design and build an autonomous robot and compete with it, the participating teams must develop an innovative project that responds to a challenge related to the theme of the season. This edition revolved around the field of energy under the name of SuperPowered. The Invictus project focuses on an energy generation system through an infrastructure of slats installed in buildings that shield from the sun and whose aerodynamic structure allows for the directing and acceleration of the incident wind on the facades towards the upper area of the buildings to generate energy with windmills. From May 18 to 21, the Invictus team showcased their talents at the First Lego League Razorback Open Invitational in Arkansas (USA) and thanks to their skills in robotics technology, the team won second prize for their robot’s performance. They were also awarded the third prize for the innovative nature of their project.
