Roberto Vargas Barranco, Cybersecurity Analyst of GMV Secure e-Solutions, has won a prize for his project involving the use of GNS3 network simulation technology for rolling out a corporate Honeynet. The project’s main aim was to learn from attacks received by critical-sector companies like those of aerospace. The results have been highly encouraging. It has been discovered, for example, that most of the attacks are automated and do not penetrate into the corporate network. To a lesser extent, critical attacks against internal infrastructure have also been recorded, including the theft of confidential information and total control of the decoy employees’ computers. Roberto thanked his GMV colleagues of Managed Services and the SeOS project for their support. He also made a special mention of two GMV colleagues who helped him out in the testing phase, Alberto Pérez Reyes and Jesús Ponce Medina, and his fellow researcher Iván Sanz de Castro, Cybersecurity Analyst in Wise Security.
