This initiative is part of the school’s academic program on scientific research, which features participation by the students during each school year. Boys and girls between 3 and 12 years of age were able to get an up-close look at how a space exploration rover functions, specifically the one known as MAE. This is a rover prototype that is now being used to test the performance of future Mars rovers, by engaging in collaborative tasks with the future astronauts, such as by detecting falls or hazardous situations. Robotics is a subject that can help develop the minds of young students, in relation to skills and abilities such as innovation, creativity, independence, and logical thinking. During this visit, GMV’s focus was on raising and enhancing the interest and curiosity of these young students, to encourage them to continue with their educational path in areas related to the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
