Spain in the Universe

On 16 July 1969 a Saturn V rocket blasted off from the Cape Kennedy space center in the US state of Florida, carrying on board three men who would make history. These three astronauts had embarked on a return trip to our only natural satellite, the moon, as part of the space race that the USA and the then Soviet Union were locked into at that time.

2019 sees the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11’s moon mission, a red-letter day in space activity in general and space exploration in particular.

To commemorate this epoch-making event the Universidad Carmen de Michelena in collaboration with Tres Cantos Council is putting on from 8 to 27 February the event “Spain in the Universe”, attended by institutions like ESA, NASA, Spain’s Higher Scientific Research Center (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas: CSIC) and aerospace companies that, like GMV, are headquartered in Tres Cantos.

The event will be hosting a series of acts, lectures and a display to showcase the most important astronomy, astrophysics and astronautics activities carried out in Spain by individuals companies and institutions.
