Sentinel 2-A launch event
On 22 June GMV will be participating in the Sentinel 2-A satellite launch event organized by ESA’s Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC).
Sentinel-2A, the first satellite working in visible light of EU’s Copernicus program, is ready for launch aboard a Vega rocket from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana on 23 June at 01:52 GMT (03:52 CEST on 23 June; 22:52 local time on 22 June).
Sentinel 2-A is the fruit of close collaboration between ESA, the European Commission, the space industry, service providers and data users. It has been designed and built by a 60-strong consortium led by Airbus Defence and Space.
The mission is based on a constellation of two identical satellites, Sentinel-2A and Sentinel-2B, launched separately and then placed in the same orbit with a 180 degree separation between them.
