Defense, industry, and society: keys to strategic autonomy

GMV sponsored the meeting "Defense, industry, and society: keys to strategic autonomy" hosted by the business daily newspaper Expansión on March 17 in Madrid.

Prominent leaders, experts, and representatives from the public and private sectors will analyze and debate, among other aspects, the significance of having a competitive defense industry at the European level, the importance of collaborating between sectors and society's fundamental role in the face of current geopolitical, technological and economic challenges.

In addition to sponsoring the event, Jesús Serrano, CEO of GMV, is taking part in the panel discussion entitled "International Context. Europe and its global role: shared challenges in defense and security" in which, together with Fernando Lombo, CE of Airbus Helicopters Spain; Miguel Ángel Panduro, CEO of HISPASAT; and Fernando Fernández, CEO of EM&E Group, the following topics will be discussed:

- Defense as a driver of European integration in the face of global challenges and analysis of the impact of geopolitical tensions on European defense capabilities.

- Interoperability within NATO and the EU and the importance of European defense initiatives (EDF, EDIS) to strengthen the strategic autonomy, competitiveness, and innovation of the European defense industry.

• Leadership in key R&D&I areas and Spain's position as a relevant player in major European defense projects.

The event will be opened by the Secretary of State for Defense, María Amparo Valcarce, and closed by the NATO Southern Neighbourhood representative, Javier Colomina.
