For GMV this upgrade represents one more ongoing improvement in the company’s management systems. GMV already possessed business continuity certification under the Spanish standard UNE 71599 and the British BS 25999. Its management systems have also been certified in security, quality, IT services, environment and R&D (ISO 27001, 9001, 20000, 14000 and USE 166002, respectively). The new business continuity standard lays down new requirements for companies to fulfil, favoring enhanced knowledge of their own business, their clients and suppliers, the organizations they do business with and also a greater understanding of how to liaise and communicate with them all. This engenders greater trustworthiness in the company concerned and vouches for its capacity to overcome any unforeseen event that might otherwise jeopardize its business continuity.
