Is this the year of Cybersecurity?

How are cyber-threats evolving and how is the industry responding? And what is the true effect of the WannaCry earthquake on organizations' perception of the importance of not neglecting this area of IT? Pedro Lopes Vieira, Business Development of GMV Secure eSolutions joined other market players to answer these and other questions and discuss the current context of cybersecurity at a roundtable organized by the specialized media IT Channel.

According to Pedro Lopes Vieira, "the mediatism of the attacks in 2017 put security and data management at the center of the discussions, which turns out to be an added factor of awareness" adding that "in 2018 other attacks will happen." The new General Regulation on Data Protection, mandatory as of May 25, was also one of the subjects discussed and for Pedro Lopes Vieira there is an "induced motivation" since it will force cultural changes in the way of looking at information.

Artificial Intelligence was also highlighted being considered as a double weapon and the use of AI and machine learning tools promises to facilitate hackers lives by providing the attacks with a higher level of agility and automatism. However, the malicious use of AI is not only limited by the automation of attacks since "it also refers to diversification, resorting to user behavioral analytics to imitate human behavior and we start talking about the weapanization of AI. The botnet of things, the diversification of the ability to produce attacks using remote computing will be a trend" concluded Pedro Lopes Vieira.

In 2018 cybersecurity continues to be one of the biggest companies concerns as threats are increasingly complex and sophisticated.
