Resounding success of the conference on satellite control systems, organized by GMV

GMV recently organized the fifth “GMV Users Conference” on Satellite Control Systems, GUC 2012, which was held from 8 to 10 October in Château d'Esclimont, Rambouillet (France) with a turnout of nearly 50 representatives from 18 different organizations, including space agencies, communications-satellite operators and satellite manufacturers.

During the three days of the conference, attendees were able to choose between attending technological presentations, sharing their operational experience or participating in debates and panel discussions on the sector’s burning issues.

The conference dealt with matters of great interest to all concerned, such as operation automation, new ground-control technologies, network security and new challenges in the provision of bespoke flight-dynamics solutions.

The conference also gave information on and ran demos of GMV’s various satellite-control products, such as the multi-mission, multi-system satellite-control and -monitoring system hifly®; the flight-dynamics operation system focusSuite; the telecommunication satellite-payload reconfiguration system, smart rings; the mission-analysis tool, matool; the satellite-capacity optimization tool, smarthz; the ground-station monitoring and control tool, magnet; plus all our network security solutions. The new functions and future developments of all these products were also showcased and discussed.

At the end of the conference, attendees readily expressed their enthusiasm for initiatives of this type led by GMV, as a unique opportunity not only for receiving information on technological developments and future trends but also for swapping notes and debating issues in the best possible setting with all the various stakeholders involved in the space sector. Participants also relished the chance to strike up relations and strengthen bonds between themselves and the organizations they work for.

The complete list of organizations registered for the conference included ESA, CNES, Eutelsat, SES, Arabsat, Telenor, Turksat, Hispasat, HellasSat, Avanti, Nilesat, Measat, Sky Perfect JSAT, Star One, Astrium, TAS, Loral and Orbital.
