GMV has taken part in the 61st UITP World Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition, the world’s biggest public-transport event, held this year from 8 to 10 June 2015 in Milan.

This year’s congress was held under the watchword “Smile in the City”. "Smile" here is an acronym standing for five keywords that represent the main thematic clusters of the World Congress and Exhibition: Sustainability, Mobility, Innovation, Lifestyle and Economy. The congress program consisted of large plenary sessions, interactive workshops, round-tables, lunch debates as well as Expo Focus sessions presenting exhibitors’ latest innovations.

During this event GMV’s staff gave personalized demos of its whole range of transport products, such as its advanced fleet-management and passenger information systems, currently set up in over 100 public-transport operators from 65 cities all round the world; its electronic ticket-issuing and fare-collection systems and its IT data-management developments, providing a complete analysis and control of services, ridership, revenue, etc.

GMV’s stand also showcased its various Network Planning and Transit Scheduling Optimization systems, plus transport-on-demand management solutions to improve passenger experience in rural areas and boost profitability.

UITP 2015 attracted a bigger turnout than 2013’s event in Geneva. This international meeting is a unique opportunity to spur ambitions, input new ideas and flesh out the most trailblazing projects, within a sector of soaring demand which looks set to play a key role in the economic upturn and ensuing growth.

Many worldwide sector leaders came together in this fair to explore the most efficient innovations in the latest systems, encouraging a new business culture that favors groundbreaking entrepreneurial ideas and nurtures budding talent.

The next stop for this international sustainable-mobility movement is Montreal, Canada. During the Milan event UITP handed over its official banner to Montreal, where the 62nd congress is scheduled for May 2017.
