Success of the GUC 2012 Conference organized by GMV
GMV recently organized the fifth GMV Users Conference on Satellite Control Systems, GUC 2012, which was held from October 8-10th in Rambouillet, France. Nearly 50 representatives from 18 different organizations, including space agencies, communications-satellite operators and satellite manufacturers attended the event.
During the two days of the conference attendees were able to choose between attending technological presentations, sharing their operational experience or participating in debates and panel discussions on the space sector’s hot topics.
The conference dealt with matters of great interest to all concerned, such as operation automation, new ground-control technologies, network security and new challenges in the provision of bespoke flight-dynamics solutions.
GMV’s highlighted their satellite control products during the conference by giving demos of their featured product families: hifly, focussuite, smart rings, matool, and magnet. hifly® is used for satellite command and control; focussuite is a flight dynamics operation system; smart payload is for satellite-payload management; matool provides mission-analysis; and magnet is GMV’s ground-station monitoring and control tool. GMV also presented solutions for network security.
At the end of the conference attendees readily expressed their appreciation for initiatives of this type led by GMV. They view it as a unique opportunity not only for receiving information on technological developments and future trends but also for swapping notes and debating issues in the best possible setting with all the various stakeholders involved in the space sector. Participants also relished the chance to strike up relations and strengthen bonds between themselves and their organizations.
The complete list of organizations registered for the conference included ESA, CNES, Eutelsat, SES, Arabsat, Telenor, Turksat, Hispasat, HellasSat, Avanti, Nilesat, Measat, Sky Perfect JSAT, Star One, Astrium, TAS, Loral and Orbital.
