The Spanish multinational Grupo Antolin, leader in the design, development and manufacture of components and modules for vehicle interiors, is always keen to keep its security infrastructure at the cutting edge of latest technological developments. In this constant drive it has now enlarged and developed its intrusion prevention system (IPS) by means of Sourcefire technology, turning to GMV as system integrator and incorporating the operation and monitoring of these devices within the managed security services contract also recently awarded to GMV.

Grupo Antolin today is a 13,000 strong company trading in 25 different countries. This great international expansion, together with the strategic decision to centralize all its perimeter security services, means it now needs to bring its infrastructure into line with its new corporate needs. A crucial requisite in all this is to keep the network well dimensioned and adapted to all the breakneck technological changes and new types of threats.

One of the main objectives set by Grupo Antolin was to increase the capacity and coverage of the intrusion detection network based on IPS tools, with the aim of improving security and protecting the business data sent from one office to another. Another important factor in this development was the scalability and flexibility of the chosen solution.

Another requisite set by Grupo Antolin, as well as updating of the IPS infrastructure, was the operation of these devices by security experts capable of interpreting and prioritizing the most important security incidents; the system also needed to be integrated with the managed security services, the renewal of which was subsequently awarded to GMV.

The project was carried out in several phases: in the first phase the IPS solution was installed and optimized; the second phase then involved development of the intrusion prevention devices by GMV and a periodic study of potential security incidents. In the third and last phase the solution was integrated with GMV’s managed services center to ensure maximum potential and early warning of any security incidents. This integration also guaranteed global coverage in the company’s incident management process.
