GMV promotes digital talent in Aragon by supporting IDiA’s Encuentra program

The Cluster IDiA (Aragon Research, Development and Innovation Association: Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación en Aragón) of which GMV is a member, with the support of the Aragon Employment Institute (Instituto Aragonés de Empleo: INAEM), has organized the first Young Talent Conference (Jornada Talento Joven) to present the eNCUENTRA Program. This innovating project aims to nurture digital talent, offering youngsters with any type of previous training, not necessarily technological, the chance to join an ICT initiative with excellent future career prospects: web programmer, mobile app developer, data scientist, Big Data analyst or SAP consultant, among other specialties on offer. The courses last 2-3 months, with an end-of-course guarantee that most of the pupils will then be given professional internship experience, with half of those enrolled on the program being hired.

Jornada Talento Joven kicked off with a panel discussion about ICT women, with the participation of Keensoft’s IT Project Manager, Sandra Escudero; SAMCA Group’s New Technology Manager, Irene Marzo; Golive’s Mobility Manager, Sonia Herce; and the Adidas Test Engineer, Nerea Tamayo. All of them wrote about how they came into the digital world, the career difficulties they have run into and their current jobs.

This debate was followed by four simultaneous workshops on Soft Skills. Silvia Nievas, Agile Coach and Scrum Master of GMV’s Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Division ran the workshop “Preparing pizzas with agile methodologies”. This activity consisted in showing her audience what today’s firms are looking for and how they work.

The event wound up with a series of papers on “Close-up ICT Experiences”, in which Ángel Gavín, GMV’s International Business Partner, ran through his own ICT career. He also explained which jobs are most in demand by keynote firms, which tasks are involved and which skillsets are required.

The main aim of the eNCUENTRA Program is to help unemployed youngsters find work in ICT firms on the strength of top-quality training. This involves the design, development and assessment of groundbreaking youngster-centered methodologies. Equality of opportunities and non-discrimination in all hiring procedures will be promoted, incorporating a gender outlook into the design, implementation, follow-up and assessment of all activities.
