Bydgoszcz is celebrating the 130th anniversary of its Public Transport system

Bydgoszcz

This year Bydgoszcz celebrates a significant, round-figure anniversary of its Public Transport system. The jubilee is accompanied by the conference of the Chamber of Commerce for Public Transport (IGKM). The topics discussed during the IGKM meeting will include the public transport service system operating in the city, which since 2012 has been using the space sector solutions prepared by GMV.

In addition to Bydgoszcz’s public-transport issues, the IGKM meeting will also discuss the solutions specifically designed to serve suburban passengers and rolling stock on such routes. Representatives of private and municipal companies operating in Płock and Kraków will share their best practices. Discussions on electronic tools supporting public transport will be an important part of the debate.

Bydgoszcz is a city where electronic systems for passengers and public transport managers have been operating for years. The onboard computers with a GPS locator, delivered by GMV, collecting identification data of the vehicles as well as of the stops on bus and tram routes, were installed in Bydgoszcz as early as in 2012. This data makes it possible to provide passengers with bus- and tram-stop ETAs, which Bydgoszcz inhabitants read on electronic boards. The data from the monitoring system, processed by fleet managers (who regulate the operation of the vehicles in public transport), is also used to improve the punctuality of the whole transport system; this is beneficial for all users.

This year’s session of the IGKM Traffic and Electronic Systems Commission was held on 7-8 June in Bydgoszcz. One of the sponsors of the event is GMV.
