GMV’s Antari telemedicine product set up in Colombia’s U-20 World Cup to reinforce emergency healthcare coverage in the host city of Cartagena of the Indies

From 29 July to 20 August Colombia will be hosting the Under-20 World Cup with 24 participating teams and over 500 players based in eight different venues. To improve healthcare coverage for the participants in this world event, the Spanish technology company GMV has signed a contract with the Caribbean Health and Progress Foundation (Fundación Progreso y Salud del Caribe), Cartagena University, the Hospital of Cartagena of the Indies, ESE and DADIS (District Health Administration Department, in Spanish initials) to set up GMV’s inhouse Antari telemedicine platform in the host city of Cartagena of the Indies.

The Antari-GMV product, a remote-diagnosis telemedicine platform, will make it possible to set up an internet-based remote healthcare system between the Cartagena of the Indies stadium and a set of hospitals. In the event of any stadium incident, medical specialists working from first-referral hospitals will be able to make a preliminary diagnosis of the patient in the stadium based on real-time information and weigh up the need for taking him or her to the most suitable hospital, all these arrangements duly coordinated with the hospital in question so that they are ready for the patient.

Antari-GMV sends on all necessary information to the hospital remotely to break down the distance barriers, providing all necessary mechanisms for giving healthcare coverage to areas lacking any specialist attention. The system includes telediagnosis elements such as a non-invasive vital signs monitor, teleultrasound, cold light source (teleophthalmology, teledermatology, teleotoscope, etc.) and teleradiology.

GMV will take on responsibility for real-time virtual technological support from Madrid, where its specialist engineers have a wealth of international experience in providing healthcare for events of this type.
