GMV develops EUTELSAT Americas' ground segment
The client acceptance tests of the new GMV-developed Eutelsat Americas control center have recently been completed. Eutelsat Americas is the new tradename of the Mexican firm Satmex after its takeover by Eutelsat Group in January 2014. The project involves the development and implementation not only of the Neo-SCS control center, a version for Eutelsat of GMV’s hifly® product, but also of the flight dynamics system based on focus for its head offices of Iztapala and Hermosillo. Eutelsat America’s systems will initially incorporate support for the control of EUTELSAT 115 West B, the first all-electric Boeing 702 SP satellite acquired by Eutelsat Americas, launched in March last year and coming into operation in october.
Support will then be phased in for the upcoming Eutelsat 117 West B satellite, also belonging to the Boeing 702SP family, scheduled for launch in the first three months of 2016, and finally for Eutelsat 113 West A and Eutelsat 117 West A based on the Loral SSL-1300 platform manufactured by Space Systems Loral, up and running since 2006 and 2013, respectively.
