RSAC, a journey to the epicenter of cibersecurity
The RSA Conference (RSAC) is one of the largest international gatherings dedicated to the field of cybersecurity, and this year’s edition was held in San Francisco from April 24‑27. Having now returned to Spain after attending the event, here we will summarize what we experienced during those four days filled with innovation, learning, and networking.
GMV had a high-profile presence at the conference as part of the Spanish delegation, which had been flawlessly organized by Spain’s public exporting and investment company (ICEX) jointly with the country’s National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), in collaboration with the Economics and Trade Office from the Consulate of Spain in Los Angeles.
During the conference, the ISMS Forum, which is a Spanish non-profit organization that has the primary purpose of promoting information security in Spain, coordinated a visit to the Spanish pavilion by the CISOs from Spanish companies and entities attending the conference, to encourage networking among cybersecurity professionals working in the financial, industrial, and service sectors.
At GMV’s stand in the Spanish pavilion, we were able to present our cybersecurity services and technological solutions to those attending the conference, with a special emphasis given to our uTile PET (privacy-enhancing technologies) product. Many visitors to the stand showed great interest in this product after finding out more about what it can do, and how it can be used to facilitate confidential data processing without compromising security or privacy.
Under the theme “Stronger Together”, this edition of the event featured almost 450 stands, which brought together hundreds of leading companies and representatives from a very extensive range of startups, to show off their highly innovative solutions. Our presence at the conference gave us an opportunity to explore all of those stands, and to attend an extensive program of presentations and roundtable discussions featuring top cybersecurity experts.
Among the subjects discussed, one that really stood out was the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in practically all areas of cybersecurity, and a message that was repeated throughout the conference was that AI is presenting opportunities for counteracting cybercrime, and the new emerging threats that have been arising from the use of AI by cybercriminals. The ability of GMV’s cybersecurity products and services to integrate AI was a perfect fit with this year’s theme.
At the conference, data protection, threat intelligence, and incident response were three of the most heavily discussed subjects during the presentations and conversations.
On the last day before flying back to Spain, we were able to meet some of San Francisco’s other “heavyweights”: the famous sea lions at Pier 39.
It was a pleasure to have a chance to represent GMV at the RSAC, and it was a very positive experience overall. What was undoubtedly the highlight of the days we spent there was the ability to make personal contact with top cybersecurity professionals from companies and potential clients around the world, with a chance to engage in some very informative and inspirational conversations.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there next year!
