GMV now participating in the development of the second generation of Galileo satellites
Citius, Altius, Fortius (Faster, Higher, Stronger). The well-known Olympic motto is also perfectly applicable to space endeavors. The Galileo constellation is not yet fully deployed but, looking ahead, studies for the development of its second generation of satellites have already started. One study sets out to build up more mass on current orbits, providing better results and reducing costs.
Continuing its ongoing commitment with the Galileo mission, GMV is collaborating with Astrium in these first stages of the definition of this next generation. As a reflection also of GMV’s multinational nature, the GMV´s Poland subsidiary will be performing the tasks of evaluating requirements in mission analysis and system operations.
GMV will input its proven experience in mission analysis to evaluate the different options for transference to operational orbits, considering not only transfer times and fuel consumption but also the radiation affecting the satellites. GMV will also study the system’s station keeping, considering not only the theoretical aspects but also the operational constraints and settings that could affect the system.
