"The health sector to be sustainable have to support the digital transformation"
Carlos Royo, Director of Business Development at GMV Secure e-Solutions, participated in the panel discussion "The digital transformation in the health sector" in the event organized by AMETIC “Keys of the digital transformation: Second Meeting of Digital Economy”.
During the meeting, Carlos Royo said that it is necessary a clear political leadership to carry out the digital transformation of the health sector, essential to make it sustainable. A transformation that must be aimed at providing digital services for a trained and informed patient, owner of her/his health information. Moreover, an information that must be interoperable for it to use it when they need it, proportionate and guarded by institutions. It is necessary to drive the initiative for the Ministry of Health to coordinate mechanisms to develop inclusive policies, governance methods that include, among other things, the mobility of information, usage patterns, etc.
Meanwhile, according to Carlos Royo, “doctors must lead the veracity of the information or ensure that the information that the patient read in the internet is correct”. In conclusion, the Director of Business Development alluded to the concept of opportunity cost when expressing the inescapable investment to be made to digitalize the health sector, because “it is not only the benefits that the investment on ICT provides, that it is evident, is more about being aware that if we do not invest in health we are doing the things wrong”.
