UPM Racing and GMV representing team talent
On May 10th, GMV welcomed university students from the UPM Racing team to its headquarters in Madrid, Spain, for a workshop focused on the single-seater racecar the students have designed and developed at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM).
This event took place as part of an existing collaboration, where GMV is sponsoring UPM’s participation in the international SAE Formula Student (FS) competition, which is focused on engineering applied to the automotive industry.
A total of 30 university students visited GMV. It began with an introduction to the company, presented by executives from some of GMV’s various divisions, followed by explanations of some of the leading-edge projects now taking place in the areas of Space, Automotive, and Cybersecurity.
The workshop also gave GMV’s employees a chance to take a closer look at the most recent single-seater racecar prototype that the members of the UPM Racing team have entered in previous editions of the SAE FS competition. In addition, they learned more about the training program that covers all aspects related to design, development, and driving of the team’s Formula-style vehicle.
UPM Racing has participated in this year’s edition of the SAE FS along with teams from other worldwide universities, and it has successfully qualified to participate in the United Kingdom and Czech Republic FS events, which will be held in the months of July and August, respectively.
Through collaborations of this type, GMV is demonstrating its commitment to education and training in the fields of science and technology, while also strengthening communications between the worlds of academia and industry, as an essential part of developing future talent.
