At GMV this vision is put into practice through People First, a program designed to develop leadership skills, align management styles, and turn our managers into well-rounded, humanistic leaders.Over the course of five years and several editions, the program has trained 140 employees, offering 72 hours of learning divided into 7 core modules. The sessions involve practical activities, group exercises, and time for joint reflection. From emotional conflict management to decision making in uncertain contexts, People First not only develops skills but also transforms perspectives, preparing GMV’s leaders for the challenges of a demanding global context. One of the most highlights of the program is the opportunity to bring together managers from all GMV departments in a setting carefully designed for learning and socializing. The sessions take place in a cozy and inspiring space in a rural environment, enhancing not only concentration, but also creativity and the well-being that nature provides. This environment facilitates a genuine exchange of experiences and strengthens team spirit among participants. The impact of the program goes beyond the training session: the relationships that are established continue to bear fruit long after the last session. Collaborative projects and synergies among leaders attest to how socialization and shared leadership can go far beyond the training room.People First was rolled out in a staggered manner, covering all levels of management. In 2024, we successfully completed the initial phase, reaching the last groups of first-level managers identified. At GMV, leading isn’t just about managing; it’s about inspiring and connecting. This program reinforces our philosophy: “Excellent people make an excellent team.” More than a framework, People First is a mission statement about the positive impact that humanistic leadership can have on any organization. It also reflects GMV’s commitment to training leaders who will make a difference today and in the future.Author: Marta Vilar* This article was first published online in Talento AHK, November 2024.
