GMV participates in the ARTEMIS SafeCer project

The ARTEMIS FP7 SafeCer (Safety Certification of software-intensive systems with reusable components) is targeting increased efficiency and reduced time-to-market by composable safety certification of safety-relevant embedded systems. The industrial domains targeted are within automotive and construction equipment, avionics, and rail. SafeCer will also develop certification guidelines and a training example for other domains, thus considerably increasing its market impact. SafeCer consists of the two connected Artemis projects pSafeCer and nSafeCer.

pSafeCer defines a Generic Process Model (GPM) of software certification valid to any domain. The GPM can be seen as a list of instructions or steps needed to certify software components, including suitable tools to be applied at each phase of the certification process and that can be invoked through the software platform. This GPM will be instantiated and tailored according to the specific characteristics of each project.

In the frame of nSafeCer, the proposed methodology, modelling languages and tools are being applied in tangible industrial implementations in the form of demonstrators of the proof of concepts. GMV is participating in the Aerospace Demonstrator. The target use case stems from the application software developed for the OLCI Electronics Unit (OEU), an an onboard instrument on-board of the Sentinel-3 Earth Observation satellite. The results will be analysed with respect to the current ESA procedures and production costs, focusing on software reuse capabilities, in order to assess the potential application to ECSS standards.
