GMV and groundbreaking technology for the rehabilitation of the future

GMV has taken part in the international conference “Tecnologías Innovadoras para la rehabilitación del futuro” (Groundbreaking technology for the rehabilitation of the future) organized by the Biomedical Engineering School (Facultad de Ingeniería Biomédica) of Universidad Antonio Nariño in Cartagena, Colombia.

Dr. Carlos Royo, of GMV, and Dr. Fredy Pomares, professor of Universidad Antonio Nariño, shared their knowledge and experience of the rehabilitation world, showing how information and communication technologies can transform this sector and giving us a glimpse of the rehabilitation of the future.

GMV has been leading the 20-company REHABILITA project for the last 3 years now, with the aim of developing the various technologies, methodologies, devices and algorithms needed to break with the past and overcome the technological barriers to technology takeup in the rehabilitation world.

Rehabilitation now accounts for a sizeable share of healthcare resources. As things stand it involves a very high social cost, both directly in terms of hospital attention and indirectly in terms of the patient’s productive downtime, depending on the number of days off work.
