Moviloc clocks up 10 years
October 2004 saw GMV’s market launch of MOVILOC®, a fleet-tracking and -management solution that was born with the aim of offering transport companies a groundbreaking service.
Over this 10-year period GMV has created game-changing management tools and peripherals and inhouse developments for various market sectors, ranging from road freight transport through concrete mixers and selective waste collection to winter road upkeep. In the last area over 100 snowplows have now been fitted with MOVILOC® and its various peripherals to help them keep track of where and when road maintenance work has been carried out.
Firms like Hijos de Vicente Navarro Pastor, CARPA, Parque Móvil del Estado, Seralia, Castillo Trans, GES, Autocares Esteban Ribas, ALD and Wtransnet are some of the 1800+ clients that have taken up GMV’s advanced fleet-tracking and -management system, now fitted to about 15,000 vehicles.
In November 2011 GMV signed a contract with the company Hegilimpa - Serviços de Limpeza, Lda. for the management and tracking of its transport fleet. This was the first ever MOVILOC® installation contract in Portugal, serving as an excellent launching pad for expanding this service throughout the Portuguese market and further afield around the world.
But the great leap forward came in March 2012 when GMV won a contract for setting up MOVILOC® and its electronic fare collection system for the tourism buses of Miami city in Florida (USA).
Miami City Tour, a joint venture including Grupo Juliá, operator of the tourism buses of Madrid, Barcelona and Toledo, turned to GMV for installing MOVILOC® in its fleet, incorporating also the mapping system of USA’s seventh biggest city and one of its most densely populated.
All these projects cement GMV’s position as an international benchmark in intelligent transportation systems and drive its unstoppable worldwide expansion. It by now has up-and-running establishments in Spain, USA, Mexico, Uruguay, Morocco, Portugal, Poland, Germany, India, Malaysia and Indonesia.
