Award from the Brazilian Navy

In gratitude for his services and support for the Brazilian Navy, José Neves, Director of Security and Defense of GMV Portugal, has been awarded the Medalha Amigo da Marinha (Friend of the Navy Medal).

Created in August 1966, the Medalha Amigo da Marinha is awarded to people who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of the maritime mentality and helped to bring out the importance of the sea for this country. Laureates may be civilians without any operational link to the Brazilian navy, military personnel from other armed forces or institutions.

The award was handed over by Almirante Comandante Favio Augusto Viana Rocha, Director of the Social Communications Center of the Brazilian Navy, representing the Navy Commander of Brazil.

The award ceremony was held on 11 November in the Brazilian Embassy of Lisbon, in the presence of such dignitaries as Valter Porto, President of SOAMAR-Brasil; Commander Ricardo Sales, Navy and Defense Attaché of the Brazilian Embassy in Lisbon; and Artur Victoria, President of the Implementation Committee of the Friends of the Brazilian Navy Society (Sociedad de Amigos de la Armada: SOAMAR) in Portugal.
