INTA certifies A-330 MRTT software for the UAE Program
On 22 February the National Aerospace Technology Institute (Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial: INTA) published its approval of the evidence submitted for certification of the software of the systems BCU (Boom Control Unit) and MFCD (Multi-Function Control Display) of Airbus Military’s A-330 MRTT aircraft purchased by the United Arab Emirates Air Force.
GMV is collaborating with Airbus Military in developing the control software for both systems and is also playing a key role in software certification activities under the RTCA/DO-178B standard, Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification.
GMV has helped to provide evidence for DO-178B Level-C certification (software whose anomalous behavior would cause or contribute to a major failure with significant reduction in safety, increase in crew workload or conditions impairing crew efficiency or discomfort or injury to occupants) for the MFCD system and for DO-178B Level-A (software whose anomalous behavior would cause or contribute to a catastrophic failure that would prevent safe flight and landing), the highest integrity level, for the BCU system.
Both certifications represent the culmination of GMV’s ongoing effort in close collaboration with Airbus Military and show its commitment to quality and compliance with all critical-software development standards.
