Experts highlight the need to create new Cybersecurity and Privacy standards for Smart Mobility
The Spanish Association of Standardization and Certification (UNE) held the event "Standardization Needs in Cybersecurity for Smart Mobility” at which distinguished experts highlighted the need for new technical standards in the area of Connected and Automated Mobility to respond to the risks inherent to cybersecurity and privacy that come with technological advances in this area. Standard drive digitization, cybersecurity and smart mobility in the automotive sector.
The event was used to present the Standardization Report on Cybersecurity for Connected and Automated Mobility for vehicles and their surroundings, published by the Spanish Association of Standardization and Certification, UNE, in collaboration with the organizations participating in technical standardization group CTN 320/GT CAV “Cybersecurity in the Vehicle Area”. GMV Secure e-Solutions Automotive Cybersecurity Consultant Carlos Sahuquillo presented some of the most common cyberattacks that a connected vehicle could be subject to and then showed the work being done by GMV.
The goal of the report presented at the event is to set a solid foundation for the development of standards that guarantee the interoperability, security and privacy of connected autonomous vehicles and intelligent transportation systems, keeping ahead of their development and general availability.
It identifies the most relevant technical standardization bodies, standards and initiatives related to Cybersecurity and Privacy in the area of Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) and in the specific case of the Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and the communication and connectivity technologies involved.
The contribution of standardization in these areas constitutes a relevant support for cybersecurity in mobility, useful to public and private entities.
In addition, the future standards on Mobility and Smart Connectivity will help reach Sustainable Development Goals SDG 9, SDG 11 and SDG 17.
