GMV discusses AI prevention at Revolution Banking

Panel Revolution Banking

GMV was once again a Gold Sponsor of IKN’s Revolution Banking. The event took place on 14 May at the Cívitas Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Revolution Banking is one of the largest annual events in the financial sector, bringing together the most important banking institutions and technology leaders in Spain to discover the latest technologies, disruptive trends, and business opportunities to drive growth in the sector.

José Carlos Baquero, Head of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data at GMV, took part in the panel “The Best Defense Is Detection,” which focused on the preventive measures to be taken to ensure that AI does not pose risks to data security and privacy, and how AI can help us fight cybercrime.

Baquero underlined GMV’s commitment to staying at the forefront of the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies. In this regard, artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in automating routine and repetitive security penetration testing, reducing the time and resources required. This is particularly valuable in sectors such as fintech and banking, where security is critical and threat response time is essential.

AI also improves the effectiveness of penetration testing by providing greater accuracy and detection of the most sophisticated threats. According to Baquero: “At GMV, we’re working to develop AI-powered penetration testing tools that use machine learning algorithms and data analysis techniques to detect threats and vulnerabilities faster and more accurately than traditional tools.”

Finally, Baquero highlighted the role of AI in creating bespoke threat models and simulating advanced and targeted attacks, enabling organizations to be better prepared to deal with real threats.
