GMV at the congress of the world’s main CERTs

GMV one of Spain’s few accredited CERTs at the TF-CSIRT Congress

Valencia has hosted the 50th TF-CSIRT Congress, organized by FIRST (Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams), restricted to the world’s main Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs). This year’s congress brought together representatives of the world’s most important cybersecurity protection centers from 78 countries.

GMV’s Security Incident Response Center (Centro de Respuesta a Incidentes de Seguridad) has been duly accredited as a CERT by the US university Carnegie Mellon, thus joining the select group of only 19 official CERTs in Spain.

On the strength of this, GMV was invited to take part in this prestigious international event that has investigated the main incidents and threats currently hovering over states, public entities and private companies. Recognized experts set out the challenges of the cybersecurity sector, the good practices and protocols to help trigger early warnings of any anomalous event and head off any risks. The congress is held each year in a different city of the world, so it is a real privilege for Valencia to serve as the venue this year. In the words of Roberto López, Head of the Managed Services Division and boss of GMV-CERT “The fact that Spain is hosting this congress represents recognition by FIRST and TF-CSIRT of the work we Spanish CERTs are now carrying out.

GMV-CERT is a group of experts responsible for the development of proactive and reactive measures to forestall information-system security incidents. It studies the global network security of networks and computers and provides quick-response services for any victims of network attack, publishes threat- and vulnerability-warnings and offers information to help improve the security of these systems. In short, GMV collaborates actively in the solution of incidents and the exchange of cybersecurity intelligence.
