Carl Zeiss presents its new version of INTRABEAM 600, which integrates GMV’s intraoperative radiotherapy planner

The annual conference of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the world’s benchmark radiation-oncology event, saw the unveiling of Carl Zeiss Meditec’s new version of INTRABEAM 600. This upgrade of the radiotherapy application has GMV’s inhouse intraoperative radiotherapy planner radiance built into its console.

In the words of Carlos Illana, product manager for GMV’s radiance, “integration of the radiance planner in Intrabeam’s console represents a quantum leap forward in intraoperative radiation therapy, bringing it up to the same technological level as conventional external radiotherapy”.

The conference, being held this year for the 58th time, brought together over eleven thousand specialists, researchers, technicians and leading figures from the radiotherapy and healthcare world. Kathleen Sebelius, former Health and Human Services secretary in Obama’s US administration, inaugurated the conference by stressing the essential role of technology in the digital transformation of the healthcare system.
