GMV acquires Mobilitat Works Inc.
GMV has signed an epoch-making agreement through its US majority-owned company Syncromatics Corp. Under this agreement GMV’s US ITS company acquires 100% of Mobilitat Works Inc., a technology company specializing in solutions for the US market of demand-response intelligent transportation systems, in particular special transport services for persons with a disability or functional diversity, known in the US as Paratransit.
GMV has been pursuing an international growth and expansion strategy for some years now, with the US always a top priority. Since 2004, GMV has been running a US subsidiary and last year it purchased a majority stake in the Californian technology company Syncromatics, a supplier of Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for the public intelligent transportation systems (ITS) market. The idea behind this acquisition was precisely to establish an excellent base for further expansion in this market within the US. GMV’s majority-owned US investee has now in turn undertaken this latest acquisition to round out GMV’s technological range for US’s public transport operators, integrating on a single platform a mixed solution of fixed-route and demand-responsive public passenger transport or Paratransit.
As far as Mobilitat Works Inc. itself is concerned, this agreement gives it the chance of joining forces with a worldwide ITS leader. The two companies’ technology and products complement each other and their combined resources are bound to accelerate even further Mobilitat’s already sharp growth over recent years in the US. Founded in 1998, Mobilitat Works develops and provides dispatching and scheduling systems for over 120 public and private demand-response transit agencies across the US.
