GMV showcases use cases for a more digital, automated, and sustainable industry at the 2024 Twin Transition Trends Forum
At the 2024 Twin Transition Trends Forum, organized by the enerTIC platform, Almudena Nieto de Castro, head of Business Development for the Energy and Utilities Sector at GMV, highlighted the relevance of technology in achieving a more sustainable world. In her presentation, she discussed the path companies must take towards the “Twin Transition”, which involves setting clear objectives, selecting specific use cases, and developing a roadmap in collaboration with technology partners to promote sustainability and the digitization of their business.
She also presented real use cases that GMV has implemented in the Agrifood and Energy sectors. In the Agrifood sector, she detailed technological solutions applied to the production, processing, and distribution of products, highlighting how these innovations have enhanced efficiency and sustainability. For instance, she mentioned the use of Artificial Intelligence to optimize processes in the wine industry, which aids in controlling water and energy consumption and the application of agrochemicals, or the use of autonomous mobile robotics with artificial vision to identify and select crops ripe for harvesting. In the Energy sector, she presented examples of digitalization and automation that have transformed the industry toward more efficient, sustainable practices while protecting employee health and safety. She emphasized several key objectives for the industry, including accelerating decarbonization, improving customer experience, ensuring employee safety, enhancing profitability, achieving operational excellence, and securing critical infrastructure cybersecurity.
The event brought together industry leaders to discuss emerging trends and best practices for the “Twin Transition” to a more digital and sustainable economy.
