In November, the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) of the GERMINAL project (Connectivity: Enabling Next Generation NAV/COM Hybrid Terminal) was held. This two-year project, co-financed by EUSPA, focuses on innovative communication and navigation solutions. The PDR, a key milestone in the project's development, allowed for the evaluation and discussion of the preliminary design of GERMINAL's products: the Hybrid Terminal and the Software IoT Receiver. Representatives from EUSPA and all consortium members actively participated in this meeting.

In September, GERMINAL reached another fundamental milestone: the System Requirements Review (SRR). During this online meeting, representatives from EUSPA and the consortium analyzed the requirements for both the hybrid terminal and the IoT terminal. In this context, the target applications of both terminals were discussed, and user needs were identified. Subsequently, experts in various fields presented the essential technological requirements that will integrate the final products, such as GNSS, 5G, LEO-PNT, LEO-SOP, and IoT.

The next step in the schedule is to advance towards a more detailed design of the terminals and to develop the Test Plan, which will be evaluated in the Critical Design Review (CDR), the next milestone of the project. So far, all activities have been carried out according to the planned schedule.

GMV leads the consortium responsible for the GERMINAL project, which includes the collaboration of IMDEA Networks and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). As the coordinating entity, GMV manages activities between the partners and EUSPA, bringing its vast experience in navigation and the integration of hybrid signals (GNSS, 5G, LEO-PNT, LEO-SOP), as well as in the development of IoT devices with optimized requirements. Additionally, GERMINAL benefits from synergies with other LEO-PNT developments carried out by GMV.
