GMV drives automation and cybersecurity in Industry at Advanced Factories

GMV participated once again this year in Advanced Factories, the leading event in digitalization, automation, and robotics, held from April 8 to 10 at Fira Barcelona – Gran Vía. At this edition, the company reaffirmed its commitment to technological innovation in smart factories.
Over the course of the three-day event, the GMV team gave live demos of uPathWay, a platform for the centralized, scalable, and agnostic management of mobile robots and autonomous vehicles in industrial environments. The solution, integrated into a mobile robot for sustainable protection of woody crops, generated significant interest at the joint AER Automation stand.
Powered by artificial intelligence, uPathWay enables the coordination and monitoring of heterogeneous robot fleets from a unified, central environment, facilitating complex missions such as inspection, logistics, and tasks in environments that are hazardous for humans. With its manufacturer independence, external system integration capabilities, and flexibility to incorporate new functionalities, uPathWay is a key tool for advancing toward safer, more efficient, and smarter factories.
Cybersecurity by design: a cornerstone for the connected industry
Another highlight during GMV’s presence at the event was the participation of Javier Hidalgo, GMV’s Cybersecurity Solutions Architect, in a roundtable organized by AMETIC titled “Cybersecurity for Smart Factories: Challenges and Solutions.”
Moderated by Alberto de Torres, President of AMETIC’s Industry 4.0 Commission, the panel also featured representatives from Mercedes-Benz and Funditec. They discussed the importance of integrating cybersecurity as a foundational element from the early design stages of any industrial digitalization project.

Among the most important takeaways, it was highlighted that:
- The weakest link remains the operator, underscoring the need for continuous training and a robust cybersecurity culture.
- Awareness and leadership from senior management were deemed essential to fostering a solid cybersecurity culture.
- Cybersecurity must be viewed as a long-term investment rather than a one-off expense to ensure the sustainability of the connected industry.
Jordi Hereu visits the GMV stand
GMV’s participation also drew notable institutional attention, with a visit to their stand by Jordi Hereu Boher, Spain’s Minister of Industry and Tourism. During his tour, the Minister showed particular interest in GMV’s automation and robotics technologies, engaging in discussions with the team about the challenges and opportunities facing Spain’s industrial sector as it undergoes digital transformation.
